Once upon a time, not so long ago, I was dating a guy. He was hot. He was also toxic as hell with major commitment issues. The upside was, like a puppy, he needed to be walked everyday. Hiking in the hills near my house made sure I could eat whatever I wanted. This is me on our trip to Hawaii. I'll spare you the cheesy bikini shot we took on the hood of our rented Mustang.
Now, I certainly wasn't the most toned thing in the world. but I was confident in a bikini, and there was enough definition my abs to make me feel sexy.
Well, hot guy's issues reared their heads, cue breakup, a brief stint on anti depressants, a diagnosis of hypothyroidism, and a lack of motivation to hit the hiking path, and I gained a little weight.
Enter the current boyfriend, who is fantastic....but really likes carbs. Suddenly, I had the "happy relationship" 15.
Ugh. So for the first time in my life, I am on the threshold of "overweight" according to the BMI. And even if that weren't so. I don't feel sexy, or confident or as healthy as I used to.
It's time to change that. I'm making a point of exercising, and eating healthy.
So that's the fitness portion of my "Fitness. Food. Everyday Adventures.
As for the rest:
Food: I live in Northern California, home to some of the freshest, tastiest food on the planet. Not to mention being spoiled for choices as far as restaurants go. I'm not going to deprive myself. My weekend consisted of some of the most tender lamb I've ever had, along with gorgeous wine, all consumed on a perfect spring day in Napa valley. I'm not giving that up for a cardboard diet. When I attempt to "eat healthy", I tend to gravitate towards a Mediterranean style diet. That's what I'm going to try to focus on.
Everyday Adventures
I love to travel. Even if it's just up the coast for a weekend. But I guess I'm trying to...recapture taking time for myself and breathing. Finding an adventure in discovering a new shop, or a new trail, or a new wine, or...little things, you know?
Here's where I'll document it all, feel free to come in and join me.
